Computers
Aisha P asked:

I work for a nonprofit youth center and we deperately need computers. My boss would love them to be new computers with flat panel monitors but I’m not sure how lucky we’ll be to get that. We just don’t need anymore half working donations.

It would be too hard probably. I would write grants.

One way is from the federal gov., but they generally donate older models. So I wouldn’t look for flat screens etc. For info:

I also work for a non-profit so I am all too familiar with your problem. There are two ways to get what you want. First, I’m sure you already have a donor list for your organization. Contact the businesses on it and ask them if they have any they are getting rid of. Businesses upgrade so often now, because technology moves so fast that they are constantly upgrading. The second way is to write letters to the big chains. Comp USA, Best Buy, companies like this. If you are a 501(c)(3) organization make sure you point out that the donation is tax decuctable. I have gotten computers both of these ways, most recently I got an almost brand new Dell laptop. Be persistent. Good Luck.
